Confidential Support from the Ombudsperson

The Ombudsperson is here for you.  She offers confidential, unbiased support when you are dealing with a conflict at NAIT.

Contact the Ombudsperson, as soon as possible if you:

  • believe you have been treated unfairly
  • are unsure of your options
  • want help understanding how NAIT’s policies and procedures apply to you

What the Ombudsperson can do for you:

  • help resolve conflict by acting as a mediator and resource for members of the NAIT community
  • analyze problems and together determine which options work best for you
  • investigate complaints of unfair treatment
    • when complaints are well-founded, recommend solutions
    • when complaints are unfounded, explain why
  • provide guidance and advice on policies, procedures and rules

What the Ombudsperson can't do for you:

  • act as an advocate or lawyer 
  • order a decision to be changed
  • resolve issues by working outside of existing policies, procedures or rules
  • work with individuals or groups outside of NAIT

About the Ombudsperson

NAIT Ombudsperson

Hi, my name is Alexia Wright and I am the Ombudsperson at NAIT.  My primary role is to serve as an independent and impartial party who helps you to understand institutional policies, procedures, and guidelines.  I will listen to your concerns and provide unbiased information so that you are empowered to determine how to best proceed given your situation.  I will help you to resolve issues informally and, if appropriate, I will refer you to other areas on campus that can provide additional guidance and support.  My office is a safe space where everybody is welcome, and I would encourage you to reach out to me if you have any questions or if you think I could be of assistance.
