Confidential support from the Ombudsperson

The Ombudsperson is here for you. He offers confidential, unbiased support when you are dealing with a conflict at NAIT.

Contact the Ombudsperson, as soon as possible if you

  • feel you have been treated unfairly
  • feel unsure of your options
  • want help understanding how NAIT’s policies and procedures apply to you

What the ombudsperson can do for you

  • help resolve conflict by acting as a mediator and resource for members of the NAIT community
  • analyze problems and together determine which options work best for you
  • investigate complaints of unfair treatment
    • when complaints are well-founded, recommend solutions
    • when complaints are unfounded, explain why
  • provide guidance and advice on policies, procedures and rules

What the ombudsperson can't do for you

  • act as an advocate or lawyer 
  • order a decision to be changed
  • resolve issues by working outside of existing policies, procedures or rules
  • work with individuals or groups outside of NAIT
